Please continue to pray for Ethan. After getting some good news from the opthamologist on Monday (the MRI was normal and his vision issues should be correctable through therapy and possibly an eye surgery in the future), we received some unsettling news yesterday resulting from a portion of the blood work that was done. Ethan’s lactic acid levels were elevated which can be an indication of a mitochondrial disorder. At this point, they are going to continue with additional tests to confirm those results and then, if it is consistent, they will conduct more thorough testing to determine the exact nature of the disorder. These types of disorders run the spectrum from life threatening to more of a minor nature (ie. low muscle tone/physical & vision delays), so at the moment we’re feeling a lot of uncertainty. It may be another couple of months until we are able to gain any more clarity, so in the meantime please pray for strength, endurance, faith and joy in midst of heartache for us and also please pray for the wholeness and complete health/healing of our little boy.

I thank God for blessing Ethan with parents like you and Terre. Knowing just how some parents are gives me the greatest comfort knowing that Ethan has the two of you. God knew he was going to need a special Mommy and Daddy to cope with his healing and he definately found the best people in the world for this little boy. He must really love Ethan to do this for him. I know that all the glory of Ethans healing will be given to God through the two of you and so does God. My prayers are for the peace and comfort of God's love to overwhelm you because I already know God has Ethan taken care of. I love you just like you two were my own kids!!! MamoLeesa
I second MamoLeesa's comments. I read the blog after responding to email. I am sorry that this has created more uncertainty for you, but you are in our prayers and thoughts. If there is anything we can do, let us know. Ethan is such a wonderful boy who is full of life!
We love you,
Laura, Chris, Wesley, and Alex
What's the latest? We're praying for you.
mh, wh
Despite the uncertainties and questions, you need to stay positive. He is a wonderful boy that is loved and God isn't giving him or you a challenge that He thinks you can't handle.
Love,
Mary Robert
