Ethan Says "Momma"

Ethan has been saying his second word, "Momma," for the past few weeks (as you may recall from a previous post, his first word was "Yum"), and we were finally able to catch it on video this weekend. Yeah, yeah, we know that he probably doesn't understand what it means quite yet, but we still think it is wonderful!

In other Ethan news, we had an appointment on Monday with his neurological ophthalmologist and he said he agreed with the previous diagnosis of spasmus nutans for his eye issues. This is wonderful news because it is something that usually corrects itself by 2 years of age. He also agreed that Ethan had a minor case of exotropia (the opposite of cross eyes), but seems to be doing very well at fixing the issue on his own (aligning his eyes by himself). This is something that may need surgery in the future, but it just depends on how well it improves. He said that Ethan's vision definitely seems to be improving! We have an appointment with the geneticist and neurologist again in March, so please pray for that appointment as well as Ethan's overall development. Thanks for all your support and prayers!

Now, here's the video...

A Weekend Away at Fox Fire Cabin

We spent last weekend with Terre's family at a cabin halfway between our homes in Forecast, TN. We had a fun time relaxing in the hot tub, hearing stories about Ghana, bathing Ethan in a sink half his size, walking on the icy pond, making a fire (or trying to make one), exchanging Christmas gifts (yes, our Christmas finally ended), eating good food and just enjoying each other's company. Here are a few pictures from our weekend together...

Hates Naps...Loves Baths!

So far, 2009 has been filled with days of trying to help Ethan learn to put himself to sleep in his own bed. He has never liked naps, so this has been a struggle from day one. We have seen some improvement, but still have a long way to go! Through all the tears and frustration (on his part and ours), one thing we know is true...Ethan hates to nap, but he sure loves his baths!
