Believe it or not, Owen turned 2 years old a few weeks ago.
We spent his birthday at the NC State Fair in Raleigh. It was Owen's first time at a fair and my first time at the NC fair. We had a really fun time - the boys both had so much fun on the rides and Ethan rode his first real (adult size) roller coaster!
When he got off he said he wanted to do it again.
I learned that you can't go to the NC fair without eating a country ham biscuit,
so that's where we headed first - to get our fuel for the day!
We brought two wagons - one for the stuff and one for the kids.
Ethan did really well and walked for at least half of the day.
And Owen refused to sit in the wagon the majority of the day --
he thought it was his job to pull it around and try to run people over.
Poor Owen was too short for most of the rides.
When Ethan and Daddy got on this ride together Owen had a big crying fit.
We eventually found a few rides he could ride
and he forgot about the ones he was too short for.
Hopefully he'll grow a few inches this year and will be tall enough to ride next year.
Ethan's first carnival game - he won his first prize!
Owen's first carnival game (we didn't trust him with the darts)
Ethan and Grandma on the Merry-Go-Round
One of the few times both boys rode in the wagon - snack time
Thankfully, Grandma packed some cheez-its!
Owen's first time riding a horse (well, it was a pony). As you can imagine, with a brother who rides a horse every week, Owen has been wanting to do this for a long time.
He had a smile on his face the whole time
and he still says, "I rode a horse at the fair" almost every day.
With all the excitement, Owen crashed for over an hour while Ethan rode the big rides with Daddy. Which meant Mommy got to rest her feet while holding her sleeping boy.
He slept hard - see the sleep lines?
After the fair we went to Grandpa's house for cake and presents.
Ethan helped Owen open his presents - may be the last year Owen allows this.
The boys definitely needed a bath - we all smelled like the fair at the end of the day!
Owen and Ethan had fun wearing Grandma's Elmo towel
The next day, Grandpa took the boys to the farmers market to pick out some candy.

excited about his Curious George books
Before we left, Owen took a nap while Ethan had a TON of fun jumping on Grandma's trampoline. I don't know why we haven't taken him on it when we've visited before, but I have a feeling he's going to make sure we do it every time we visit from now on!

A few days after we got home, we got a package from Aunt Jenny!
Thanks for my Mickey Mouse shirt!
Owen definitely stretched out his birthday this year!
The next weekend we celebrated his birthday with friends and family in the area.
Here is Owen watching Daddy get the leaves ready for a big jumping pile!

So extremely thankful to have you in our lives!
